Recently, members of our local Mensa group had the distinct privilege of visiting the Hong Kong Customs Headquarters Building in North Point. This enlightening experience provided a unique opportunity to delve into the multifaceted operations and facilities of the Customs and Excise Department.
One of the standout moments of the tour was the visit to the indoor firing range. This exceptional facility piqued the interest of many attendees, particularly our younger Mensans, who were eager to learn more about the responsibilities and training of law enforcement professionals. Their active engagement and thoughtful questions underscored a genuine curiosity about the discipline and stringent safety measures integral to the customs profession.
Throughout the visit, participants explored several key areas within the headquarters, including the flag raising area, media briefing room, exhibition gallery, self-learning centre, and fitness room. Each location provided valuable insights into the department’s vital roles and responsibilities. Members gained a deeper understanding of how the Customs and Excise Department works tirelessly to safeguard national security, combat narcotics, intercept smuggling activities, detect dutiable goods, and protect intellectual property rights.

This enriching experience not only enhanced our appreciation for the dedicated work of the Customs and Excise Department but also fostered meaningful discussions among members regarding the importance of public service and security in our community.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Customs and Excise Department for hosting this informative and inspiring tour, and we look forward to further collaborations that highlight the significance of public service and engage our community in meaningful dialogue.
